A person who designs buildings is called an architect. In this lesson, you will become an architect as we design a castle. You have the option to use realistic or abstract colors in your drawing. We will also be exploring various techniques while coloring this work of art with crayons, such as blending two colors on top of each other to create a new color. Additionally, we will be using plates to create texture on our paper.

Draw the horizon line

Draw 4 vertical lines on top of the horizon line

Draw a rainbow line connecting two of the vertical lines. This will create two towers for the castle.

Draw a triangle on the top of each tower.

Draw a ‘step line’ from the side to the first tower. Skip over the tower and start on the other side to connect both towers. Finally skip over the second tower and draw the step line to the edge of the paper.

Draw additional towers.

Draw flags on the top of the towers.

Draw a door.

Draw two diagonal line from the door to the bottom of the page.

Draw details on the walkway.

Add windows on the castle and towers.

Add extra details like a sun, clouds, or water under the moat.

Outline the drawing with a permanent marker.

Color the castle. Use texture plates to create the sky.

Blend colors with each other on the towers of the castle.

Color the rest of the castle and the space around.
