This is a fun lesson to play with paint mixing and collage. The cozy cabin is what is demonstrated, but this process could easily be changed into any subject.
Draw a house on your paper.
- Draw a square
- Draw a triangle on top of the square
- Draw 3 diagonal lines attached
- Connect the diagonal lines
Paint your house by mixing paint to make brown.
- Mix the 3 primary colors to make many kinds of brown (red, yellow, blue)
- Add other colors around the house with the extra paint
Create the background.
- Draw a horizon line (a horizon line separates the sky and the ground)
- Fill above the line colors to make a sky
- Fill below the line colors to make the ground
Collage the design
- With any extra paint or paper, explore more color mixing
- Cut shapes and glue them together to make a collage
