March is Youth Art Month
Every March, the Council for Art Education (CFAE) spotlights art education during Youth Art Month (YAM). Student artwork is showcased through public art shows, contests, and events to raise awareness of the necessity of visual arts in the classroom.
Events and celebrations differ at every level, but each state has the opportunity to allow students to participate in the state flag design competition. The winning designs from across the country are then showcased at the National Art Education Association (NAEA) Convention. The 2017/2018 theme is Building Community Through Art.
In addition to the flag contest, each state chapter of NAEA can spearhead additional focuses and of course, individual schools and teachers can honor YAM in their own way.
What creative ideas are on your agenda for YAM?
