AtR Gives Back – Changing Footprints
It’s the mission of Art to Remember to Support & Promote Art Education and our team loves working towards that daily. We also enjoy supporting other great causes so once a year, our team spends a day giving back to the community. This year, we lent our time to Changing Footprints in Indianapolis.
Changing Footprints is a volunteer run non-profit that collects and distributes shoes around the world. Since it was founded in 2005, the organization has donated over 100,000 pairs of shoes. In 2016, they donated over 30,000 pairs and expect to donate upwards of 45,000 this year.
The Art to Remember team collected shoes for two weeks before their volunteer day and arrived with 40 volunteers and 20 bags of shoes. We worked on site for 5 hours and were able to sort over 4,000 pairs of shoes. It’s labor intensive work but it was very humbling to give our time and get a glimpse of the hardships of others.
Our team loved this opportunity to give back to the community. If you are in the Indianapolis area and would like to help, there are areas around the metro area where you can donate shoes or you can attend one of the sorting days which occur every first and third Saturday of the month. Whether you would like to attend a sorting day for an hour or two, or would like to arrange a large group sorting, you can contact Changing Footprints at info@changingfootprints.com or Bob Broughton at 317-727-4186.
